WISE is a global leadership aimed at revamping education by applying global agenda for creative action in education.
WISE was established by Qatar Foundation in 2009 under the patronage of its chairperson, Sheikha Mozah bint Nasser. Since 2009, the WISE Summit has gained a reputation in connecting all kinds of education partners. Intensive discussions, workshops, and sharing experiences are the heart of each and every summit. Each summit unites over 1,500 experts, researchers, and innovators from multiple sectors worldwide to foster new collaborations and develop solutions in education.
Following the 2015 Summit, WISE shifted to a biennial calendar of global Summits, allowing a greater focus on smaller regional engagements while developing new WISE Research and programs. These include the Empowering Leaders of Learning workshop series, reflecting the commitment of WISE to supporting Qatar’s school leaders.
The WISE Prize for Education is an international prize that rewards an individual or a team for contributions to education which have been adjudged to be outstanding. The inaugural edition was launched in 2011 with a monetary award of $500,000. The glorious personalities who won the WISE Prize include Fazle Hasan Abed, founder and chairman of BRAC (Bangladesh Rural Advancement Committee), Madhav Chavan, co-founder and CEO of India-based NGO Pratham, Vicky Colbert, founder and director of Fundacion Escuela Nueva in Colombia and Ann Cotton, an advocate of girls’ education. and Dr Claudia Costin, Senior Director, Education Global Practice, The World Bank Group.
